Communication Assistive Technology Assessment

Accredited Communication Assistive Technology Level 1 (CAT 1) and 2 (CAT 2) assessor.

Provide assessment for communication assistive technology solutions and apply to Disability Support Service to fund the system as appropriate.

Member and current board member of Assistive Technology Alliance New Zealand (ATANZ).

Supervision

Professional supervision for other speech language therapists. Formally trained, passionate and experienced supervisor. Experienced in providing general supervision, supervision of new graduates and CAT specific supervision.

AAC Support and training

Support and training to help parent or teams implement Alternative and Augmentative Communication at home, school or preschool.

About Kathleen

I have 16 years of experience as a speech language therapist in both health and education within New Zealand. In addition to private practice, I work part-time in a school setting with children with complex needs. I have experience in all areas of paediatric speech language therapy from speech sounds to complex communication needs.

I am approachable, friendly and take a family centred approach to speech language therapy. We will work together to set and achieve the goals that matter to your child and family. I am passionate about helping all children to communicate.

I have a special interest in autism, complex communication needs and., augmentative and alternative communication. I am Communication Assistive Technology Level 1 & 2 Accredited. I am a board member for the Assistive Technology Alliance NZ (ATANZ).

I am an experience supervisor and also offer professional supervision for other speech language therapists.

Qualifications
Master Speech Language Therapy Practice with First Class Honours completed 2008; Bachelor of Science

Recent training

Natural Language Acquisition in Autism: Echolalia to Self Generated Speech; Level 1-3; Recognised NLA practitioner

PODD Introductory, alternative access and alternative presentation workshops.
